Ashley River Rebuilding Plan Representatives from the Southern Management Group and Liollio Architecture explained the plans for the rebuilding of Ashley River. The basics of the plan are as follows: 1) Phase 1 starts. During the summer, trailers will be placed in the area near the Suzuki trailer. The current second, first, and kindergarten hall will be destroyed. It will be fenced off so no one can enter. 2) The Kindergarten, first, and second graders will move into the remaining portion of the school. Older students will be in trailers. There will be a bathroom trailer for them. The administration and media centers will remain as they currently are. 3) No traffic will be routed behind the school. Temporary roads will be made in the green area in front of the school. The paths may change as necessary. 4) The two-story section of the school will be built, encompassing where the old building was as well as some of the land currently to the right of the school. When this is completed, Phase 2 starts. 5) All students and the administration will move into the new two-story section. The old media center will be converted to classrooms, and the cafeteria will get an addition. The remaining old hall (currently third, fourth & fifth grade) will be destroyed and fenced off. 6) The new one-story addition will be built. It will contain kindergarten and special ed when completed. Permanent parking, car, and bus loops will be created. The estimated completion date is January 2010. 7) There are no plans to renovate the gym at this time. Updates can be found at the Southern Management site. Further discussions will take place at PTA meetings. An audio recordings of the building plan presentation and question & answer sessions are below. If you are unsure of your connection, right-hand mouse click on the link and "Save Target As" to download it to your computer and listen from there. Unfortunately questions from the audience can be difficult to hear, so turn your speakers up. It takes about 45 minutes to listen to all of the audio.
